We are very proud to announce that MKDA is now DANCE CIRQUE certified! We have successfully completed the extensive DANCE CIRQUE certification course!
Congratulations to: Melissa Kelly-Lavoie, Julie Prévost, Melanie Carter, Stephanie Salvati & Jenna Black!
This Australian-based program is one-of-a-kind and will only be available at MKDA. It will be offered full-time starting in the Fall of 2023, but we will be offering package sessions for children to try it out this Winter. If your child loves it, they can register for the full-time class next Fall.
We want to wish ALL MDKA families and staff a beautiful dance season! We also want to give a warm welcome to the many new families who have joined our dance academy. Classes start September 19th!! J All communication will be done by email, therefore, if you would like to add someone else to our email list, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing: office@themkda.com AND melissa@themkda.com.
We want to congratulate all dancers who participated in our June 4-5th competitive team workshop & auditions! What a beautiful weekend of dancing, learning and being part of professional auditions with our elite panel of judges: Natalie Sweazey, Fizz Oladiran & Victoria Patterson. We welcome all 41 dancers to this year’s team!
Friendly reminder: We are holding our competitive team meeting on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:00pm (MKDA – Studio A).
If your dancer is expressing interest in being part of our competitive team, mark your calendars NOW! Save the dates of Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th. We run industry-like auditions in order to give dancers the true and full industry experience. Our judges are from Toronto and they will be holding a full day of workshops for all candidates on the Saturday and running the auditions on the Sunday – Judges Biographies will follow in a separate email once we finalize all plans.
1. COSTUME INVOICESBy now, everyone should have receive their invoices for recital costumes. Costumes are slowly arriving, but they cannot be released to the dancers until the invoice is paid in full. Please note: Due to many complications with the costume companies this year, some dancers will receive costumes that might be a little big. This is beyond our control and was unavoidable. The cost of alterations is not included in the price of the costume; unfortunately this is an added cost.
SEAMSTRESS INFO: Francine Lauzon has been our trusted seamstress for years. If you require any alterations, please contact her directly at: 705-465-8342.
1. MKDA MERCHANDISE
We were very fortunate to receive all MKDA merchandise prior to Christmas! If you ordered merchandise, and have not picked it up, it will be given to your child the week of January 31st.
2. COSTUME INVOICING
All costumes have been ordered, and invoices will be sent by email in the next couple of weeks.
Reminder: Costume fees are the same as previous years (either $100.00 or $150.00).
