- WELCOME TO OUR 21st DANCE SEASON
We would like to give a warm welcome back to all MKDA dancers & families, and wishing all NEW MKDA dancers a fantastic 1st year as part of this great big family! We are thrilled to welcome everyone in our happy place where all dancers feel included, welcomed and free to be themselves.
Our season begins on Monday, September 15th! Mark your calendars!
- DANCE SCHEDULE – REVISION #7
We have had to bring a few changes to the schedule, therefore please make sure to visit the website to view the updated schedule – Revision #7 is written on the top of the schedule: https://www.themkda.com/schedule/
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a high chance there will be more changes after the registration deadline of September 10th. If there is a REVISION #8, we will send out an email ASAP!

- DANCE WEAR REQUIREMENTS

- DANCING WITH THE DOCS EVENT
As we’ve done for the past 2 years, MKDA teachers are involved and volunteering their time for the Timmins & District Hospital fundraiser called ‘’Dancing With The Docs’’ to be held at The Dante Club on Thursday, October 23rd. We are always proud to be active members of this community and giving our time for this event is very important to us. Since the event itself and dress rehearsal are during the week, we will be cancelling classes on the following two days (please mark your calendars):

Thursday, October 23rd
- OFFICE HOURS
There will be no set office hours during the year. If you require assistance from our office administrator, Julie Bouwman, you can contact her by email to make arrangements to meet: office@themkda.com. Julie is quick & efficient at responding to emails.
Julie will be in the office during the first week of Term 1 (week of September 15th) to make sure everyone has a smooth beginning and to answer any questions.
- SECURITY GUARD
Our beloved Shane Lebrun will continue to keep all dancers & families safe! For all new families: Shane is our security guard and you will see him at the studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays
- OBSERVING CLASSES & CHILD SUPERVISION
We have two spacious observation areas at MKDA and televisions for parents to observe class. However, observing class is a privilege and we ask parents to keep noise and distractions to a minimum while watching class. WATCHING CLASS FROM THE STUDIO A STAIRWELL WILL NOT BE PERMITTED as this creates too many distractions for our dancers.
Furthermore, if a dancer has a ‘’break’’ during their dance night, they CANNOT be left unsupervised. If our security guard sees a dancer that is unsupervised during their break, he will advise the teacher and the teacher will call the parent.

- FALL DANCE CONVENTION
We are currently in the process of planning our FALL DANCE INTENSIVE and we will have exciting details ready for you in the next few weeks. For now, please book these potential dates to your calendar:
December 13th & 14th.
We are bringing dance educators from Toronto and they will be offering classes in HIP HOP, INTRO TO BREAK-DANCING, CONTEMPORARY AND JAZZ! This event will be exclusive to MKDA dancers ages 9+.
- YEAR AT-A-GLANCE – MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Start of dance season: Monday, September 15th, 2025
Thanksgiving: Studio is closed from October 11th-13th. Classes resume on October 14th.
Dancing With The Docs Fundraiser: No classes on Wednesday, October 22nd or Thursday, October 23rd.
Halloween: No classes on Halloween night (Friday, October 31st).
Santa Claus Parade: Saturday, November 22nd. MKDA dancers always participate!
Last day of Term 1: Saturday, December 6th.
First day of Term 2: Monday, January 12th, 2026
Family Long Weekend: Studio is closed from February 14th-16th.
Classes resume on Tuesday, Feb. 17th.
March Break: Studio is closed from March 14th-20th.
There will be classes for the Saturday dancers on March 21st!! This also marks the last day of “regular classes” at the studio.
Stage Rehearsals begin on: Monday, March 23rd at École secondaire catholique Thériault auditorium.
Dance Pictures: March 28th & 29th at MKDA Studio A.
Dress Rehearsals: Tuesday, April 7th & Wednesday, April 8th at Thériault auditorium.
Recital 2026: Friday, April 10th at 6:00pm (Senior Show)
Saturday, April 11th at 1:00pm (Full Show)
Sunday, April 12th at 1:00pm (Full Show)
MKDA Year-End Banquet: Thursday, May 7th at The Dante Club.
