APRIL NEWSLETTER

  1. ORDER OF THE SHOWS (Full Show & Senior Show):

Please visit our website to view the order of the Full Show & Senior Show: http://www.themkda.com/recital-info/.  This will indicate what number(s) your child will be in the show.  If your child does not dance until the 2nd half of the show, we still need them to arrive at Thériault 1 hour prior to the start of the show for security reasons.  

 

  1. IMPORTANT POINTS FOR RECITAL (please read PRIOR to recital):

There are two documents attached with this newsletter.  We ask that you read both documents in order to be aware of MKDA policies during recital and other very important points regarding your child before, during and after recital.  We do not like leaving anyone uninformed. 

 

  1. DRESS REHEARSAL DATES

We call it “dress rehearsal” because we rehearse with all costumes.  We expect all dancers to arrive with their costumes RECITAL READY!  This means, all alterations should have been made by now, all tights purchased from First Choice Dancewear and we expect to see all costume accessories on stage (head bands, tiaras, gloves etc.)  We DO NOT expect makeup to be done or hair – as long as hair is out of the face.  Dress rehearsals are the following days:

Break   (ALL Juniors will leave at this time as we will run the Juniors in the 1st half)    7:45 - 8:00

Run Part 2 of the Full Show                                                                                       8:00 - 10:00

Finale Practice (ALL DANCERS MUST ATTEND)                                             5:30 – 6:15

  1. VOLUNTEER PACKAGES

If you’ve filled out the volunteer form on our website, we want to THANK YOU very much!!  Only those who have submitted their forms, either through our website or in the office, are asked to present themselves to the VOLUNTEER BOTH on dress rehearsal day:  Wednesday, April 19th NO LATER THAN 5:00pm.  You will be given a volunteer package that will contain a NAME TAG and details about your volunteer duty.  We ask that you read all papers inside your envelop to make sure you are well informed about everything.  Also, you MUST wear your name tag at dress rehearsal and at recital; otherwise you will not be permitted to enter the auditorium or cafeteria.

  1. DVD’S FOR RECITAL

If you wish to purchase an account with DANCE BUG VIDEOGRAPHY, please see Mardi in the office.  It will also be available to purchase at all of our recitals for $23.00. 

 

 

  1. YEAR-END BANQUET

The banquet will be held on Wednesday, May 10th at the Dante Club: Doors open at 5:00pm.  This is always a special time of the year where we celebrate all dancers and their success.  Join us for an evening of Italian dinner, celebrating our dancers, awards and leave with a special MKDA gift.  We will notify parents of the dancers receiving an award ahead of time so you may purchase your tickets.   Tickets are $35.00 for adults and $15.00 for children 12 under.  You may purchase these tickets starting Monday, March 6th 2017 during office hours.

 

 

  1. COMPETITIVE AUDITION & WORKSHOP DATES

We are offering an exciting, one-day dance workshop on Saturday, May 27th from 9:30am to 6:00pm.  The cost is $75.00 and you will get an opportunity to be taught by leading professionals in the dance industry:  Shawn Byfield, Natalie Pitton-Sweazey & Karen Woytowich.  Please contact Mardi at:  office@themkda.com to register. 

 

Auditions will be held on Sunday, May 28th.  A detailed schedule will follow as soon as we receive all audition application forms.  The deadline to submit your AUDITION APPLICATION FORM is May 23rd.  You can find this application form on our website under the “FORMS” page: It is the first one in red entitled:  Audition Application FormNOTE:  We will not accept any late entries.  There is also a $50.00 audition fee. Please bring in your form to the office during office hours or drop off the form and cheque, payable to MKDA, in Melissa’s personal mailbox.  Anyone wishing to use the studio to practice may do so by emailing Melissa at:    melissa@themkda.com.  Studio time can be booked any time after May 10th (excluding weekends).  Since there will only be 2 weeks available for studio time, we ask that you book in groups of a minimum of 3 people. We will not be accepting any bookings for one person only.  The beauty of having the auditions so soon after recital & competition is that dancers shouldn’t require much studio time as the routines are fresh in everyone’s minds and very well-rehearsed.
