1. REGISTRATION FOR THE 2021-2022 SEASON
We are excited for this new dance season to begin and
we are confident it will be a FULL SEASON!! We are proud to announce that our
entire staff has been fully vaccinated.
We are committed to our dancers and their health and safety; we have
done our due diligence as members of this community to help stop the spread of
All registrations will be done online through our website: http://www.themkda.com starting July 5th. Take advantage of our early bird 10% discount from July 5th-31st (applicable to those who pay in full). Should you have any questions regarding classes or levels your child will be entering in the Fall, please do not hesitate to contact Melissa Kelly-Lavoie: email@example.com or Julie Prévost: Julie_prevost258@hotmail.com.
Reminder: We are not charging for recital costumes upon registration. Invoices for recital costumes will be sent out later in the Fall.
IMPORTANT: We ask that all dancers who register for COMPETITIVE TEEN
BALLET & INTERMEDIATE BALLET, also register for BEGINNER POINTE. See #6 for details about Beginner Pointe.
2. COVID-19 STUDIO PROTOCOLS & REGULATIONS
We will be providing this document by mid-August. We do not want to write our protocols & regulations at this moment since we know our current situation will change come August. This document will outline all regulations including: Observing classes, class sizes, sanitization etc.
3. AUGUST DANCE CAMP – CANCELLED
Melissa will be undergoing knee surgery on July 21st at the Toronto Western Hospital. This surgery requires 8 weeks of recovery, therefore we must cancel the August Dance Camp for this year. We apologize for this inconvenience as we know many dancers were looking forward to dancing again sooner rather than later. This surgery is much needed for Melissa to be able to have a pain-free season.
4. PICTURES OF YOUR DANCER
Despite the unfortunate outcome of this season, we want to put a positive twist on it. We would love to receive photos of your dancer in their recital costume(s). Please send all photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. We would like to create a big collage of the 2020-2021 dance season and have it hung up at MKDA along with all the other recital composites. Many parents have enjoyed getting their dancer “ready” for a photoshoot. Have fun with it and be creative! J
5. COMPETITIVE TEAM – CURRENT MEMBERS & NEW MEMBERS
There are always exceptions to every rule…..MKDA has decided to have an audition-free season for its current dancers. Meaning, dancers who were part of the 2020-2021 dance season, will not need to audition for the 2021-2022 competitive team; they are automatically part of the team. This is certainly a first for MKDA as we believe in auditions; however, our team has been robbed of two seasons of dance competitions and we want to reward every single dancer for their resilience and continued dedication & persistence.
Any new dancer who wishes to be part of the MKDA competitive team will, however, need to audition virtually. We will be accepting video auditions until August 27th. These videos will be sent to our judges for evaluation. For questions about the competitive team and on the virtual audition process, please contact Melissa Kelly-Lavoie: email@example.com.
6. POINTE SHOE FITTINGS & ASSESSMENTS
The week of August 16th, Melissa will be in touch with all dancers registered in Competitive Teen Ballet & Intermediate Ballet in order to book a pointe assessment and a possible pointe shoe fitting. Not ALL dancers registered in these classes will be eligible for the Beginner Pointe class. In order to qualify for the Beginner Pointe class, dancers will have an individual appointment with Melissa Kelly-Lavoie so she may assess the dancer’s overall strength, anatomy, technique and structure of feet. A dancer’s technical abilities are evaluated and it will be factored in with the dancer’s anatomical structure.
If your daughter is not eligible for the Beginner Pointe class, you will be given a refund for this class.
HAVE A FANTASTIC SUMMER!!!
STAY HEALTHY, STAY SAFE
& STAY FIT!
