COVID-19 Letter

Dearest MKDA Family,

We are thrilled to announce our reopening on Monday, February 22nd!!  We have been given the green light from the government, but are waiting until Monday, February 22nd to reopen in order to properly and safely prepare our strategy for our classes that have 10 + dancers.

Until we enter the green zone, MKDA will run certain classes in ‘’rotations’’. This rotation system will have 10 dancers actively participating in class while the overflow of students observe from our observation areas while wearing their masks.  Dancers in the observation area are expected to actively observe and listen to the teacher’s instructions while ‘’marking’’ the choreography. The time spent observing is not intended for talking or socializing; dancers will be supervised by another teacher or staff member.  The teacher will have dancers rotate every 15 minutes or so to allow full participation in class by all members of the group.  We feel this system is beneficial, interactive and fair.

These are the classes that will run on the ‘’rotation system’’:

-Advanced Hip Hop

-Level 4 Hip Hop

-Adult Hip Hop

-Competitive Advanced Hip Hop

-Junior Acro

-Senior Acro

-Advanced Musical Theatre

-Elementary Ballet

-Advanced Ballet

-Teen Tap

-Competitive Teen Jazz

-Advanced Contemporary

-Adult Lyrical

-Competitive Advanced Contemporary

Our studio and health protocols remain the same as Term 1.  We ask that you continually screen yourselves prior to coming to class.  Our numbers are going down and we are confident we will enter the green zone very soon.

**Stay tuned for our February Newsletter that will outline important dates for the remainder of the term. Please do not refer to the ‘’Year-at-a-glance’’ document you received in September.  We will have a revised document for you soon.

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, loyalty and patience during these unprecedented times.

Yours very truly,

Mrs. Melissa Kelly-Lavoie and faculty
